Shaka brings his boys to Nashville this time around…

Yeah, you’ll see the key games at North Carolina and Kentucky at first glance in the non-conference schedule, but look a little closer and you’ll see that VCU is coming to Nashville.  This is huge.

11/8  @ Lipscomb

11/11 @ Richmond

11/14 Indiana State

11/17 @ North Carolina

11/20 Lipscomb

11/23 Holy Cross

11/24 Hartford/Hofstra

11/26 Brescia

12/1 VCU

12/3 @ MTSU

12/11 Fairfield

12/14 @ South Dakota State

12/17 @ Denver

12/21 @ Kentucky

12/28 @ Indiana State

At A Glance

Lipscomb twice?  Yes, it is still there.  I don’t know how long this will go on, but when is the visitation over?  Don’t we get to the put them in the ground soon?  Don’t get me wrong, I think the once a year thrashing is necessary for tradition sake- but let’s face it, we have a new rivalry:  Virginia Commonwealth University.

The games at perennial powerhouses North Carolina and Kentucky are big games on the schedule that are necessary for RPI, but South Dakota State won’t be the same this year without newly departed star and current Milwaukee Buck, Nate Wolters.  MTSU is another good one on the books, and we’ll need to see a huge Belmont crowd in Murfreesboro this year.  Overall, the schedule is definitely challenging and I think can give us a national presence if we are able to win one of the big ones.

November can’t come soon enough.

What do you think of the schedule?  Leave a comment!

  1. I love this schedule. I know Kentucky will reload this year, but last year’s performance gives me a glimmer of hope. Can you imagine a win at Rupp? I know it’s crazy…

VCU at home is gonna be insane. That’s gotta be ESPN right?

  2. I love it too. A little disappointed at the disproportionate amount of away games, but such is life for a successful mid-major and I suppose we’re used to that by now. Hopefully the VCU game at home will make up for it, especially if we can get the win on national TV!
And don’t forget about the Byrd vs. Alexander matchup to open the year…can’t wait for that one!

  3. The 4 road games between 12/14 & 12/28 are going be tough both mentally and physically for the guys… especially when you consider the travel involved in that road set and you throw Kentucky in the middle of all it.

There’s no doubt this team will be battle tested come conference play.
